Senior Business Adviser
Sarah Masoni is a Senior Faculty Research Assistant and Food and Process Development Team Manager at the Oregon State University Food Innovation Center Experiment Station, where she has resided for the last 15 years. There, she works as a liaison between the university and the food manufacturing industry by managing staff, projects, and budgets at an innovative, leading-edge technology center. Sarah has specialized in food entrepreneurship, and she has worked on projects ranging from local and natural ice cream sandwiches , dairy products, beverages, veggie products, seafood products, sauces, pancake mix and organic fruit and nut bars.
Previously, Sarah worked as a Senior Food Technologist at Gardenburger, a position she held from 1992 to 2000. There, she reformulated products, driving revenue growth and reducing cost. As the Principal Food Scientist for a patent-pending flame grill process, her innovations led to product sales over $1.4 million in its first three months, representing 6.5% of total company sales.
Sarah is also a recognized Flavorist with strong relationships with ingredient vendors and flavor companies, and regularly serves as an official judge for local and national product evaluations. A former artisan Cheese Maker, Ms. Masoni is a current member of the Institute of Food Technologists, and been invited as an Official Judge for the annual cheese competition and is a Member of the American Cheese Society, and the American Dairy Goat Association. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Art and Food Science from Oregon State University.
Senior Business Adviser
Karl Mundorff co-leads the Oregon State University Advantage Accelerator, is the Principal Investigator for OSU National Science Foundation Innovation Corps Site and has served as the Interim Director of the Austin Entrepreneurship Program. His recent past includes the position of Director of Research Programs for Oregon BEST, a State Signature Research Center focused on advancing the Cleantech cluster. As Director of Research Programs he worked with University and National Lab researchers to advance technology to market. He helped secure an Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership designation from the Economic Development Administration, which created an opportunity for the Pacific Northwest Manufacturing Partnership to compete for more than $1billion in new federal agency grant opportunities.
Karl also served as President and CEO of BioReaction Industries which developed and commercialized an air pollution control technology utilizing microbes to digest industrial process exhaust. Growing the company from prototype to commercialization created significant IP, sales and license agreements across three continents along with the development of customer engagements with Fortune 500 companies such as Toyota, Weyerhaeuser and 3M. He was also part of the management team at Gardenburger taking the company through a successful IPO.
Karl has also been an Industry Mentor for two National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps teams, one of which earned the top mark out of 23 teams from around the country.
He has been a judge and mentor for programs such as the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Cleantech Open, the University of Oregon Venture Quest and its Technology Entrepreneurship Program. He helped organize and run Portland State University, Wells Fargo funded Cleantech Challenge.
For ten years, he was a part-time instructor at Concordia teaching Global Business, Innovation and Starting New Ventures at the graduate and undergraduate level. He also designed and taught Innovation and Business Model Generation in Concordia's MBA program and has taught Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Portland State’s Masters in International Management program.
Mr. Mundorff holds a Bachelor of Science – Marketing degree from Oregon State University, Master of Business Administration – Entrepreneurship from Concordia University, Portland.

George is a graduate of Washington State University and has been a licensed CPA in Oregon since 1975. Prior to joining Spectrum CPA Group in Lake Oswego, George has worked as a CFO/Controller for various sized international and domestic companies, including equipment manufacturing, timber, and secondary forest products and mining.

Mr. Wenner founded Wholesome and Hearty Foods, in 1985 and lead that company to the number one public growth stock in the Nation in 1993. During that time the lead brand “Gardenburger®”, became the most popular meatless product on the planet with 83% of the US population purchasing at least one of its products. Mr. Wenner was chosen as Entrepreneur of the year, honored with the Veggie Visionary Award, and inducted into the Wellness Revolution Hall of Fame. Under his management the company was chosen by Forbes magazine as one of the top 100 companies in America, Business Ethics magazine as one of the top ten companies for business ethics in America, New York times as having one of the top ten food products in America, and authored a successful book, GardenCuisine, published by Simon & Schuster. His latest book is called “Power of our Forks” which he wrote with the Juicelady, Cherie Calbom.
In the past Paul has taught college classes and has spoken to thousands of people, sharing his view of food and nutrition. Paul is a visionary and with over 50 years of experience in the food and nutrition business he continues to promote healthy sustainable products and changes that not only benefit people, but also animals and our environment.
Jason is the co-founder and president of the Portland-based creative marketing agency, Peaceful Media, which specializes in helping "do good" entrepreneurs increase brand awareness, customers, and social influence. His wife, Megan, and one-year old daughter, Elena, are the unofficial spokeswomen for OHH at trade shows and farmers' markets around Portland. Jason graduated with degrees in business and communications from the University of Montana.
Philip Smith is a founding partner in the Portland-based immigration law firm NELSON | SMITH, LLP. Philip’s practice focuses on removal defense, political asylum and federal litigation. Philip received his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds an MBA from Rice University in Houston, and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Tennessee. Prior to practicing law Philip was a Peace Corps volunteer in Sri Lanka.
Steven Wong is a real estate broker, property manager, and investor, with a background in accounting, taxes, and finance. Graduated from Lewis and Clark College. Frequent volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Randall Children's Hospital. He is married with one daughter.
Michael Smolak has past working experience as a pension consultant. He is qualified as a Registered Financial Consultant® by the International Association of Financial Consultants. He is a fully licensed General Securities Registered Representative and Investment Advisory Representative of KMS Financial Services, Inc., a FINRA Broker/Dealer, and member of SIPC. Mr. Smolak is also a licensed insurance agent and consultant.
Michael served as an officer in the United States Navy in active and reserve service, retiring as a Commander. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also received a Master of Business Administration degree (Marketing & Finance) from Portland State University.
